The pelvic floor is a vital aspect of our anatomy, literally the foundation of our upper body. As many of us age and move through life experiences that impact the pelvic floor, challenges can arise that require some focused attention and therapeutic support. In our Yoga practices, it is also a vital part of breathing and movement patterns offering both stability and fluidity. This workshop is intended to support our understanding of this part of our system and give guidance for working with weakness, tightness or general disfunction.
SafeSpacesYoga (AKA, Tammy) is proud to collaborate with Erin Dean (DPT, PT) to support our community with her insights on pelvic floor health. Erin specializes in pelvic floor health as a physical therapist and is also a teacher in the Viniyoga tradition. Her presentation will focus on these topics:
- What is the pelvic floor?
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Strategies for supporting pelvic floor health—What to do
- Q&A
The format of the workshop will be a combination of community connection, anatomy training, experiential exercises with Pelvic floor awareness, and Integration with Yoga Asana awareness. There will be plenty of time for Questions and discussions as well.
